Davie Rodeo Roundup- April 2010 results
For the second consecutive year, the last Sunday in April
saw Davie’s Bamford Park turned into a colorful festival,
filled with young girls playing softball.
Approximately 2,300 people attended the 2010 USSSA Rodeo
fastpitch tournament as the number of participating teams
grew from 42 in 2009 to 46 2010.
Bamford’s 11 fields, expertly manicured and decorated by the
town’s Public Works department, saw action from 8 a.m. until
9 p.m., when four champions were crowned: the Pembroke
Lakes Bandits in 8U, the Coral Springs Panthers in
10U, the Miami Wildcats in 12U, and the West
Pines Diamond Dusters in 14U.
And, just like last year, at the tournament’s midpoint, the
Davie Broncos’ 14U girls’ team was met on the field by Davie
Mayor Judy Paul, who threw a ceremonial strike.
"It's always a thrill spending time with our talented
athletes," said Mayor Paul. "I am proud of their efforts."
The Davie Broncos girls, for their part, made it to
the championship game for the second consecutive year,
falling 10-9 in extra innings.
Davie Rodeo Roundup-2009

(Mayor Paul after throwing out the first pitch, receives

Broncos!)
2009's inaugural Rodeo Roundup brought fast pitch tournament
softball back, in a big way, to Davie's Bamford Sports
Complex at the Pine Island Park. 42 teams from all over
South Florida entered, and played in the second-largest
USSSA one-day tournament in history. It was a true team
effort, with outstanding help from the Town of Davie Parks
and Rec and Public Works departments, and even Davie Mayor
Judy Paul helped by throwing out the first pitch for the
first elimination game.
The great success of this event means the Broncos look
forward to hosting a two-day USSSA event iin 2010. Contact
Holly Svekis for more information, details, and
sponsorhip opportunities.
The 2009 Rodeo Roundup was sponsored by Mark Levitt, of
Limousines of South Florida, one of our great friends
whose generosity made our tournament possible. Without
sponsors, none of this would be happening, and the Broncos
wish to express their gratitude for every sponsor, at every
level. Thank you.
